Coach Anne Linton’s experience as a physician and athlete give her a unique perspective to understanding individuals and their racing and fitness goals.  She has worked in various medical settings over her 20 year career as a physician, ranging from Emergency Medicine and Orthopedics, to Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, and has participated in everything from Ironman triathlons to cyclocross.

Anne has a strong knowledge base of exercise as a science as well as an understanding of the athlete as a whole person, both mentally and physically.  As someone who returned to racing at an older age, Anne understands the perspective of a masters level athlete. She knows what it is like first hand to rehabilitate one’s body back to a certain fitness level as well as nurse back from injury and prevent future injuries. Anne's clients have achieved personal records in triathlon from Sprint to Ironman distances as well as qualified for and competed in the Ironman World Championships. On the road and dirt, she's coached multiple State and series champions as well as National Championship medallists.

In addition to an undergraduate degree in engineering, Anne received her MD from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland Ohio and completed her residency at the Cleveland Clinic. She is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and USA Cycling Level 3 Coach. She is also a member of the American Association of Cycling Team Doctors, a group of physicians active in all aspects of the medical and training needs of cyclists.

After a strong athletic background as a child, Anne focused on academics in college participating in intramural sports and running a few 5 and 10 km road races. In medical school she turned to triathlons, winning her age group on many occasions. But then the rigors of residency and her medical career kept her out of competition until 2003 when she realized she was neglecting her physical and mental well being as a result of working too much.  She then bought a bike, got back into bike riding, hired a coach and began competing in triathlons. She was able to lose 40 pounds in the process and stopped practicing clinical medicine, focusing on the study of exercise physiology and helping others achieve their goals. She has helped many new women cyclists and triathletes get into the sport. She also has coached her 71 year-old mother to do a half marathon with the goal of completing a full marathon. In addition she has worked as a personal trainer and a spinning instructor.

She has competed in multiple short distance triathlons, half ironman races, completed Ironman Coueur d’Alene in 2005, and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in her age group in 2007. She was also the overall Master’s female champion in the Scoggins Valley Triathlon in September of 2007 in Oregon.  She is a Cat 3 Road Racer who has completed many stage races including The Elkhorn Classic Stage Race in Baker City Oregon the past two years. She won the Oregon State Team Time Trial for elite women with the Sorella Forte team in 2010 and as part of a masters women’s team in 2009. She is a Cat 2 and Masters cyclocross rider and was 3rd in the Oregon State Championships in 2008. She usually places in the top of her age group in Cyclocross and has won her age group in short track mountain bike races.

Anne lives with her husband and two rescue golden retrievers in Bend, Oregon. She enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing, cycling, swimming, watching any Cleveland sports team, and playing with her dogs.

"....A big thanks to coach Anne for once again putting together an ideal training plan and race strategy for me. If I'd only kept my goggles, my food and my shifters intact, I likely would have made the goal I set for her to help me reach (Kona) after only 8 months working with her. It's made a huge difference to my race success after 10 years of triathlons." ~Erica McKenzie (after her 3rd place overall at the Black Diamond Half Ironman)

"Anne is not only knowledgeable and thoughtful, she takes into account my school and personal schedules and needs to put together the perfect training plan. My improvements in just half a year have been dramatic." Leia Tyrell, 2010 Oregon State Road Race Champion, Women 1/2 & Bronze Medalist at the 2010 Collegiate Criterium National Championship, Division 1

"I have been self directed in the past, but it just wasn't specific enough for me. I've been with the program for about 2 months and I've noticed a big improvement in body composition, lost a little weight and improved my maximum sustainable cadence from 89 to 125 rpm (done today!), and improved ability to climb out of the saddle from about 5 minutes to 20 minutes at a stretch. This wasn't just by going out and doing it, it was through a specific program in the gym that has helped me develop core strength, helped with stretching and toning.
"As a coach, Anne is great with helping with nutrition, schedule management, planning which races are best for you etc. ..."And for people like me who can become anxious/ obsessive compulsive about working out and training, and finding it hard to juggle all the stuff I do, having a program designed for me has taken a LOAD of stress off my mind. And it's flexible. And it's Anne! What more can I say! ~
