Roger Rintala of
Truckee, CA is one of Wenzel Coaching's top century and general
fitness coaches and also works with athletes making the transition
to racing and developing those racers through the category ranks.
Roger has been a
sports coach for 20 years, specializing in helping recreational
cyclists develop their training to meet their own personal goals and
ambitions with a special emphasis on endurance events and citizen
racers. By working on a customized training program and
understanding each client's motivation, Roger has helped cyclists of
varied backgrounds improve their cycling and accomplish major goals.
His genuine enthusiasm for their objectives and successes has helped
motivate clients to meet and even surpass their goals.
Roger also works with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Team in
Training," where he helps recreational cyclists prepare for their
century rides, competitive endurance mountain bike events, and ultra
endurance events. With Team in Training and Wenzel Coaching he has
trained cyclists for events including the Markleeville Deathride,
the Leadville 100, the 24-Hours of Moab, and numerous other
centuries. Roger’s clients go to these events prepared and ready to
enjoy the event and their event-day success. Well over 90% of his
riders complete their target event.
“Performance counts but to achieve your
potential you have to enjoy the bike. We all choose cycling because
we enjoy the time spent riding, training should enhance the rider’s
relationship with the sport and with their body. I want to see my
clients compete well, achieve ever better results and do so with the
grace that comes from enjoying what you are doing.”
